HHS hosted Bowers Elementary's Field Day on Thursday, May 2. Students from Mrs. Cooper's Teaching As a Profession Class helped with games. Everyone had a good time, but it sure makes a tired teacher!

Congratulations to our Seniors who participated in the SkillsUSA National Signing Day at TCAT this morning. These young men and women have committed to continue their education at TCAT after graduation and learn a trade that will set them on a path to success in various industries. By choosing to pursue technical education at TCAT, they are seizing the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and valuable skills that are in high demand in today's job market. Whether they are aspiring electricians, welders, automotive technicians, or pursuing any other trade, they are embarking on a journey that will not only enhance their individual careers but also contribute to the growth and prosperity of our community. We applaud their dedication and determination to invest in their future, and we look forward to witnessing their accomplishments as they excel in their chosen fields. As they take this significant step forward, let us continue to support and encourage them on their path to success!

Congratulations to Trevor Nichols, who will be entering the US Marine Corps Security Forces Regiment after graduation. This division of the Marines organizes, trains, equips, and provides anti-terrorism security forces in support of combatant commanders and Naval commanders in order to conduct expeditionary security operations and provide security for strategic weapons and vital national assets.

During the semester, students in Mrs. Stout's History classes study the conditions, impact, trials and triumphs of race from the Reconstruction era to present day.
On Thursday, they got to see one of the most influential novels to be written by a woman and the most enduring fictional image of racial heroism, Atticus Finch, play out in front of them as they attended a performance of To Kill a Mockingbird at the Tennessee Theatre.
We would like to thank the Youth Arts Alliance for making the tickets available to our students. This education outreach program, founded in 2007 by the Tennessee Theatre, Knox County Schools and corporate partner Quantum Environmental & Engineering Services, LLC (QE2), to provide school-age children access to world-class performances in one of the most well-known theaters in the region.

You can pick up a 2024-2025 application in the Lobby and give it to Mrs. Stout or Mrs. Cooper by Friday, April 5th. Make sure to READ everything in the packet! If you have any questions, please ask! Don't forget that you will also need 3 teachers and 1 outside-of-school recommendation. GOOD LUCK!
