OSHS Student Council is doing a community project that includes the entire school. Student council will be collecting food for Oliver Springs Food Ministry for the month of October. Student Council has created a calendar to help give everyone ideas on items that are needed. Boxes will be placed in front of the office to collect items. This will be a competition between grade level classes and with Coalfield School. Along with the actual goods on the list, monetary donations are also accepted. Winners are determined by a point system: 1 point for each non-specialized item donated, 2 points for each specialty item (which includes peanut butter, canned soups, canned meats, canned fruits, laundry detergent, dish liquid, paper towels, and toilet paper), and 3 points for each dollar donated. The winner of the schools competition will be announced at the Coalfield vs Oliver Springs game October 21st. The winner of the class competition will be announced Monday, October 31st and will receive an incentive for their work. Remember this is a project to help out our community and we hope everyone will participate!!
