Congratulations to all our high school Bobcats of the Month and the perfect attendance drawing winners for February!
Oliver Springs High School's student body selected teacher Mrs. Given to be awarded as the Faculty Member of the Month for February.
We had a few students state why they thought Mrs. Given should be Staff Member of the Month. Multiple students said that they love Mrs. Given and that she is “a great teacher overall and takes the time to explain topics more in depth if needed.” Another student said they “enjoyed her class and I loved the labs we did.” Another student stated that Mrs. Given “tries her best everyday to ensure each student can succeed and learn in her classes. She also makes her lessons understandable for everyone with different styles of learning.”
Thank you, Mrs. Given, for all you do for your students!
Each month, there is a high school Bobcat of the Month from each grade level which is nominated by a faculty member and voted on by the staff. Bobcats of the Month receive a small prize with one lucky winner receiving a gift card. This month’s Bobcats of the Month are: Aliya (Freshman), Drake (Sophomore), Cooper (Junior), and Hope (Senior).
Teachers had many positive things to say about the students they nominated. Three of Mrs. Vaca’s nominees were selected this month. She said that “Aliya has surprised [her] with her self motivation to start preparing for ACT next year. She is also very kind to her classmates. [She hopes] to see her getting into the college of her choice.” Mrs. Vaca also said that she is “so positively impressed by all of the Sophomores' attitude toward [her] class, so it was difficult to choose one student, [but] it [would] be Drake. He is constantly helping others to understand the steps to follow to write sentences in Spanish. [She] strongly believes he motivates his peers to succeed in the classroom.” She also stated that “Cooper is not only a talented student, but also a quiet leader. He keeps his classmates working on task, and he will not give the answers freely, but will give them the tools and steps to accomplish a task. [She knows] Cooper will succeed in whatever he sets his mind to accomplish.” Mrs. Kitts’ nominee for the seniors was chosen this month which was Hope. Mrs. Kitts stated that “Hope works very hard in her middle college classes and when she is on the OSHS campus, she is also smiling and helpful.”
All high school students with perfect attendance are entered into a drawing for a small monthly prize (one winner per grade level). The February winners for the Perfect Attendance drawing were Jake (Freshman), Lane (Sophomore), Zachary (Junior), and Matthew (Senior).
Congratulations to all of these students and staff!
