Congratulations to all our high school perfect attendance drawing winners & our Bobcats of the Month.
Oliver Springs High School's student body selected a teacher to be awarded as the Teacher of the Month for September and it was Mrs. Miklas.
We had a few students state why they thought Mr. Miklas should be Staff Member of the Month. Students stated that she “is a really nice and caring person and she is always there if someone needs to talk to her” and that “She is a good teacher who loves her job, excellent at educating high school students, friendly when people stop to talk to her in the hallways during class change, and she is a big influence on not just her students, but anybody she comes in contact with.”
All high school students with perfect attendance are entered into a drawing for a small monthly prize (one winner per grade level). The September winners for the Perfect Attendance drawing were Freshman Ender Castleberry, Sophomore Ethan Reed, Junior Aubrey Loy, and Senior Jailyn Phillips.
Each month, there is a high school Bobcat of the Month from each grade level which is nominated by a faculty member and voted on by the staff. Bobcats of the Month receive a small prize with one lucky winner receiving a gift card. This month’s Bobcats of the Month are: Thomas Profitt (Freshman), Fayth Christy (Sophomore), Ladon Maston (Junior), and Caden Jackson (Senior).
Mr. Stratton stated that “Mr. Jackson has excelled in the MRDM Pilot Course earning the highest marks on his EdReady and exams.” Mrs. Jones said that Landon “is just very motivated this year and doing good” in all of his courses and has been helping others. Mrs. Kitts said Fayth is “very kind to her peers and hardworking and respectful.” Mr. Roberts said that Thomas is “consistent, hardworking, [and has a] great attitude.”
Mr. Booth’s prize box has fun, random prizes that the students love. One particular prize was “Friend for a Day” which Landon chose. Much to his surprise, this was his friend for the day, but he had a blast:
