When looking at the results for the state TCAP EOC exams, the goal is to achieve at least a Level 3, but ideally a Level 4 or Level 5. A Level 3 indicates that students in that subject are performing at least as well as they are expected to perform on the EOC exam. A Level 4 indicates that students in that class are performing better than they were expected to perform on the EOC. A Level 5 indicates that students are performing significantly better than they were expected to perform on the EOC. Basically, a Level 3 means that overall the students are meeting expectations; being a Level 4 means that overall students are above expectations; and being a Level 5 means that overall students are significantly above expectations.
We do NOT yet have the EOC Math data for the last school year, but we do have the EOC data for Biology I, English I, English II, and U.S. History.
In Biology I, English I, and English II, each course showed improvement compared to the previous year. While Biology I was a Level 3, it was almost a Level 4. English I remained at Level 3, but improved from the previous year. English II showed significant improvement having jumped from a Level 1 (in 2022-23) all the way up to Level 4 (in 2023-24). In fact, English II was almost a Level 5.
When looking at the growth measure percentiles, there are some positives too. Growth measure percentile measures how much did the average student at OSHS grow compared to all the students that took the EOC in the entire state. In English II, we had a 78% growth measure percentile, meaning the average student at OSHS showed more growth than 78% of everyone in the state. In Biology I, we had a 69% growth measure percentile, meaning the average student at OSHS showed more growth than 69% of everyone in the state. Furthermore, in U.S. History, we had a 59% growth measure percentile, meaning the average student at OSHS showed more growth than 59% of everyone in the state.
Big things are happening at OSHS in our academic areas and we can’t wait to see how this year goes!
