The last few months, National Beta member, Lydia Yoakley, has been working hard to prepare her entry for National Beta Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. In June, she was able to celebrate that hard work when announced as a winner in the Jewelry Division II competition. Lydia placed 8th out of all of those competing.

Lydia originally competed and received an award during the State Convention held in November of 2022. Her victory at the state level provided an opportunity to compete at the national level. The National Convention provided all students the opportunity to compete. Over 5,000 Elementary Beta (grades 4-5), 8,000 Junior Beta (grades 6-8) and 7,900 Senior Beta (grades 9-12) students were able to represent their schools both this summer.

“National Beta was such an amazing experience. I had no idea how big this event was! While I was there, I got to meet so many amazing people and see a few of my friends from ALA Volunteer Girls State! I got to see so many amazing performances, pieces of art, you name it. I am proud to have represented OSHS at the 2023 National Beta Convention!” --Lydia Yoakley

Once again, CONGRATULATIONS to Lydia! Thank you for representing our school well!
